Majel Barrett Roddenberry, sometimes referred to as the Grand Dame of Star Trek, was the wife of Gene Roddenberry and the mother of Rod Roddenberry. She is best known for playing Nurse Chapel on Star Trek the original series and Lwaxana Troi on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She reprised her role as Chapel in two Star Trek films. Furthermore, she provided the voice of Starfleet computers in every iteration of Star Trek, thus being one of only two actors to feature in both the original continuity and the 2009 reboot, and also being the only actor to feature in all six Star Trek television series.

She also had roles on The Untouchables, Leave it to Beaver, The Lucy Show, Bonanza and Gene Roddenberry's The Lieutenant, Genesis II, The Questor Tapes and Planet Earth.

After the death of her husband, Barrett partnered with David Kirschner to form Roddenberry/Kirschner Productions and produce a series devised by Gene Roddenberry called Earth: Final Conflict. She served as executive producer on the series and starred in 12 episodes as Dr. Belman.

Later, she produced another of Gene Roddenberry's unrealized series: Andromeda.
