Marcus 'Augur' Deveraux is a technological genius whose services are often utilized by William Boone and the Liberation.
Extra-Legal Activities[]
When first introducing Lili to Augur, William Boone describes him as "the ultimate home entrepreneur". In the same scene, Augur "borrows" a new avatar package before it comes to market by hacking a computer system, he manipulates currency markets, and skims funds off a transaction between an arms dealer and a drug dealer, claiming "someone has to skim these people.". Augur hacks the National Crime Information Center to find information about car bombings to help Boone investigate his wife's murder. [1]
When Lili becomes suspicious of Elyse Chapel, she asks Augur for his help researching her background. Augur uses his hacking skill to reveal that Elyse is on the FBI payroll.[2]
Augur is the owner of the Flat Planet Cafe, which doubles as a Resistance hub. He is shown at the cafe using smart glasses to place sports bets, prompting Lili to call him "a glorified bookie."[3]
In order to maintain Lili and Dr. Belman's cover, Boone and Lili needed to convince the Companions that it was Doors International CEO Anne Portnoy who helped Jonathan Doors fake his death. Augur helps Boone and Lili plant information incriminating her.[3]
Liberation Activities[]
It is revealed to Boone and Lili that Augur was working with the resistance from the beginning in the episode Resurrection. Augur designed the digital systems for the Liberation movement's underground headquarters located under St. Michael's church. [3]
Augur successfully circumvents the Taelon's limitations on shuttle destination coordinates, enabling Paul Chandler and his team of astronauts to reach Mars. [4]
He works with Sahjit Jinnah to study and reprogram the probe recovered from the Amish community Paradise. [5]
Relationships[]
Augur is portrayed as something of a ladies man, he is shown apparently on a date with 3 women at the Flat Planet Cafe.[3]
He develops a fixation on Lili despite her frequent rebuffs, going so far as creating a submissive AI avatar that looks like her to use as his digital assistant.
